Notifications and privacy

You decide what you hear about. From your settings you can choose which notifications you receive, so you stay on top of what matters without the noise. You can also control what shows on your public profile and how you are found in search.

When someone who is not one of your contacts writes to you for the first time, their message arrives as a request rather than as a conversation, and you will find it under Message requests in your inbox. You can read it, then accept it to reply, decline it, block the person or report the message. If you decline, the request closes and they are not told. Until you accept, they cannot send you anything further, and they cannot send photos. If someone who is not one of your contacts adds you to a group, you receive an invitation among your message requests in the same way, unless you have chosen to let everyone add you.

Your contacts are the people and businesses you have a booking with, anyone whose message request you have accepted, and anyone you have messaged yourself. A message to a business is an enquiry, so a business receives it in its inbox as usual.

A photo sent by someone who is not one of your contacts is blurred until you choose to view it. Tap the photo to see it, and it stays visible for you from then on.

Blocking someone stops them messaging you. In a group you both belong to, what they send after you block them is not shown to you and you are not notified of it, and they are not told that you have blocked them.
